What is your name and where do you go to High School? Also, what is your graduating year?

Morghan Ashwell from Mondovi, Wisconsin 2025 Graduate

Where have you decided to play college softball?

Bethany Lutheran College -D3 in Mankato, Mn.

Why did you choose this school and program?

I chose this school because right when I stepped on campus I fell in love and it felt like home. This school is the perfect size for me with just over 800 students which is exactly what I wanted. Everybody that I met made me feel a part of the BLC Family. I also chose BLC because Coach Nessler is the type of coach that I wanted to play for. He treated me like one of his own even when I was getting recruited and I loved everything about him, especially the way he coached his players. The facilities are so nice, especially the brand-new Activity Center and locker rooms. I felt like I fit right in and I’m so excited to continue my academic and athletic career at Bethany

What are you looking forward to most about playing at the next level?

I’m most excited about the competition. Playing at a high level is what I have wanted to do for a really long time. I’m excited about the tests and challenges that this is going to bring me.

How was the recruiting process for you? What were some challenges and positives throughout the process?

At first my recruiting process was pretty slow. I spent the whole summer researching colleges and decided to send out many emails but didn’t get very many responses. I went to tour a few colleges to make a pro/con list and meet some coaches. Starting in the fall I went to go watch some Bethany Fall Ball games just to feel out how Coach Nessler coached and to also watch my friend Emily play. I drove 5 hours one way the first game that I went to and after watching that game I knew that Bethany was very high on my list. A couple weeks later I went to another fall ball game, this time in Mankato on Bethany’s home field. I was super happy when Coach Nessler let me in the dugout for that game. That night he texted me for the first time and that was 100% the highest moment in my recruitment process besides committing. I went to a few more camps, put on a jersey after one of them, and decided I was ready to commit to my future home.

Morgan also wanted to be sure to show her appreciation for everyone below:

I would like to thank my parents, God, Coach Nessler, all of my coaches especially Coach Kindra, Abbey, and Jenna at VSA who have helped me get this far and my teammates who have helped push me to get better. I’m so blessed to be a Viking!
